Keshia Knight Pulliam is an American actress who was born in Newark, NJ on April 9th 1979. Keshia began her career at the age of nine months old in a national print ad for Johnson’s and Johnson’s Baby Products. By the age of four Keshia had appeared in several national commercials, was a regular on “Sesame Street” and had the feature film the “Last Dragon” on her resume.
It was at the age of four that Keshia landed the role of “Rudy Huxtable”, the youngest daughter of Clair and Cliff Huxtable, on the iconic television show,” The Cosby Show” (1984-1992). For her work on "The Cosby Show" Keshia is the recipient of several NAACP Image Awards, Young Artist Awards, a People's Choice Award and a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award and a host of other honors. Keshia to date is the youngest actress ever nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Emmy Award.
During the Run of the Cosby Show, Keshia stared in a host of TV movies, including the period holiday drama The Little Match Girl (1987), the Mark Twain update A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court (1989), and Debbie Allen’s musical version of Pollyanna, Polly (1989), as well as the sequel, Polly: Comin’ Home! (1990).
After The Cosby Show wrapped, Keshia took several years away from acting to concentrate on school. In 2001 she graduated with honors from Spelman College with a B.A. in Sociology and a concentration in film. Since graduating Keshia has resumed her acting Career in both television and film. She co-stared along side Queen Latifah in MGM’s Beauty Shop (2005), Boris Kodjoe and Idris Elba in Screen Gem’s “The Gospel” (2005), and most recently stared with Tyler Perry and Derek Luke as the female lead “Candace” in “Madea Goes to Jail” (2009).
Currently, Keshia stars as “Miranda” on the TBS sitcom “The House of Payne” which is entering into its 5th year of production. For her work on “The House of Payne” Keshia has won three NAACP Image Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Additionally, She has an Atlanta based Production Company, Kizzy Productions. Keshia splits her time between her suburban Atlanta home and LA residence.
